Here is the next installment in the series of small updates. If anyone wants the compiled version that flows better just send me an email.
The forest was dark for the sun had yet to rise. Shadowed figures bound through the trees, jumping over fallen trees and dodging low branches; one of these figures was the old man as he ran with the strength of the wind behind him. He passed countless deer and other animals in his sprint to the other side of the forest. His foot caught on an upturned root and he tripped, the wind rushed passed him, another gust would have to be summoned until he could manage it he would look around the area for any plants that could help the village.

Another little piece
Well, here's another bit of the story. This part was written after I took an Algebra test.
In his dreams he wandered through the maze again looking for a book he had never read, he found none. Saddened he fell asleep in his dreams until he awoke. It was early morning when he opened his eyes; he stood up and threw his book into a pack. He made his way to the edge of the clearing that had been his home for the past five hundred twenty four years knowing that he would probably never return to it. His mind wandered to the wolf that had become his friend, would it be lonely? Would it get enough food? However these were all questions for a later time, for now his only goal was to get the village and be around people once again, for the first time in a long time.

And another!
So I do like this story so I'm going to continue it for awhile. I'd say expect an update every other day but lets say every three days and call it good when it is every other day.
The old man stood up and went to his fire pit, his meat had been a little burned but it was still edible. He sat down and began to eat; the wolf emerged from the forest and emitted a soft growl. The man looked over at it and beckoned it to come to the fire. This happened whenever he brought back meat; the wolf and he had become friends, sometimes even keeping each other company for hours. Today he was not up to company so he threw the wolf a large piece of meat and shooed it back into the woods.
He sat by the fire eating his meal and his mind wandered. It had been nice to see her again even if she was bothersome occasionally; He wished she would stop trying to get him to go to the village she was helping construct. He finished eating and returned to his book; He would read for a few more hours then go to sleep. In the morning he would plan a trip to the village.

Here's another one
Out of the woods walked an old woman carrying a spear. She spotted the old man sitting near the tree reading his book and sat down next to him and waited. After half an hour the old man noticed her and looked at her “How are you today?” he asked.
“Good”, she responded, “and you?”
He replied, “I think I found something new”.
The old woman stood up and walked to the lake shore “I see another village is gone, was that storm last night your doing?”
“Yes”, he replied, “I did it, I like peace and quiet while I study and they made an awful noise.”
The old woman walked back over to the forest edge “I’m going to go back to the old city and help those that have settled there, you should visit them sometime; I think you would find one of them interesting.” He responded “Possibly, when I have found what I’m looking for, or when I get bored of books.”
As the old woman walked away she said “You get bored of books? That couldn’t happen in a thousand years… sadly... that day should be coming very soon.” With that she vanished into the woods.

I'm on a roll people!
So I figured out that I like this story so I'm going to continue it until I run out of stuff.
He dragged his slain deer back to his cave and began to start a fire; he piled sticks upon the ashes of his previous fires and closed his eyes. Instantly flames leapt to life within the sticks, he opened his eyes and rolled the deer onto the fire. He sat below one of the trees that formed a half circle around his campsite and opened the only book that still remained for the great library he had once managed. In the library there had been a plethora of books on various topics from the history of man to the intricacies of magic. He had of course read most of them. The one he held in his hands was the only remaining book from those times before the world had regressed to its current state, the book he held was the last book on time magic which was even speculative during his time. He opened the book once again and began to read.

Another step in the correct direction
I liked this character so I decided to continue his story, who knows I may make this a recurring character.
Once again he dreamt of the maze, an endless maze with no entrance or exit and lined with all the books he could ever read. The man wandered the twisting passages reading books until he awoke. Outside of his cave the storm still raged however the people were silent. He smiled, closed his eyes and fell back into the maze of his mind. He found the book he was reading about storms, the page was still marked from when he threw it across the hall in anger over the fact that he couldn’t understand it, this, like all things, had been overcome. He reopened the book to where he had stopped reading and round where the passage about calming the storm began. He began to read and slowly the area around him became a forest clearing for him to practice this new ability. Over and over he tried and failed, over and over he was struck by a bolt of lightning or consumed by a forest fire until eventually he calmed the storm. Silence greeted him as he awoke, when he stepped out from his cave he saw the destruction his storm had brought to the area. His smile faded as he looked ahead and saw most of the village gone, he would morn their passing once he had eaten his morning meal.
